The Château's historical archives reveal that the gardens of Puy Vidal were celebrated as "splendid" during the 19th century. Lovingly restored to its former glory and imbued with the spirit of the Italian Renaissance by the Rondinaud family in 2002, Puy Vidal's majestic perch above the Bandiat valley is accentuated by gracefully sloping terraces, cypress alleys, and an intricate labyrinth. Recognized by the French ministry of Culture as a "Jardin remarquable " these gardens now provide an enchanting oasis for participants of the Lady of the Château Creative Retreat, artists, and guests.

Puy Vidal
FIND BEAUTY WITHIN
The Labyrinth
Artfully designed, the hedges of this labyrinth are just high enough to get lost in, without being too imposing. Many dead-ends and false turns keep you guessing, only to turn a corner and find a classical statue surrounded by lavender.
The Rose Garden
A delight for the senses, with every color and scent beautifully arranged in formal garden beds bordered by box hedges, the Rose Garden invites you to take a seat and meditate as you watch the sunset over the valley below.
The Potager
Originally created by the former owners to supply their local restaurant, this vegetable garden thrives in rich soil and perfect sunlight. Throughout the summer, it bursts with fresh and organic produce— butternut squash, zucchini, tomatoes, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, artichokes, pears, kale, and lettuce.
The Petit Bois
At the northwest tip of the estate, a beautiful manicured forest awaits. Each American Chesnut tree is perfectly spaced, one after another, to create a lovely almost chapel-like quality. An ideal spot for an afternoon picnic, or a beautiful ceremony, this is nature meets cultivation at its finest.
The Parklands
Interspersed through the highly cultivated portions of the grounds are these parkland areas with expansive lawn, undulating curves and large trees. These space out the more immaculate discipline of the other areas, and gives a lovely space to stretch out, bring a book or set up a badminton or croquet court. These are the moments that feel like you've landed in a Jane Austen novel.
The English Garden
To the west of Puy Vidal you will find a peaceful hidden hill we call the English garden.
