The Lady of the Chateau is a brand which seeks to encourage individuals to find beauty within. We invite and encourage this through our Creative Studio where we craft and share narratives through digital platforms using film, photography and writing to celebrate freedom, beauty, and connection.

 

The Creative Retreats portion of our business is our most intimate and cherished offering, and is developed with an enormous amount of care. As we developed our approach to in person retreats, we understood that the creative arts offer a wonderful way to nourish, inspire and express neglected parts of our psyche. We therefore design creative retreat experiences around different creative themes such as Oil Painting, Photography, Creative Writing, Storytelling in a Digital Age, and even Fantasy Costuming and Photoshoots. These are some of the themes we have explored so far, and we are open to exploring outside of these as well.

 

Our retreat programs do not however solely focus on the coursework and art instruction. The entire week is designed to offer a fully immersive aesthetic, emotional, nourishing experience for each of our guests. From the welcome ceremony to our aesthetic and old world dining experience, to cultural excursions, and games designed to revive our spirit of freedom and play, the theme of the week goes hand and hand with all the other elements of living a creatively nourishing life.

 

Our central tenants are: embrace ritual through traditional practices such as lighting fires, singing, dancing, conversing around a table, get out of your head and play, learn to be still and savor the present, connect deeply to others by opening up and being willing to learn something new, and finally express the beauty within yourself.

 

The retreat week will be structured around these tenants in different ways, all that support and enhance the main focus whether it is painting, writing, reading, photography etc.

 

Our goal by the end of these weeks is that each participant will have been so immersed in our world far from the demands of modern life, that they leave with their cup completely full of love, support, self-confidence and community.

 

As a guest instructor, it is essential that we not only align on the goal of the retreat, but have a good working relationship, clear communication, and a natural chemistry, so that we can all co-host with a natural ease. We do everything in our power to welcome you into our world as a star player and together become a hosting team. By the end of our retreats, we hope to leave with a feeling of immense shared pride and joy at what we have created together.

 

Creating a retreat with us means collaborating closely with us to conceive, plan and market the experience. Onsite, it means working within our retreat design team, family hosts and staff to deliver an experience of exceptional hospitality, creative expansion and transformation for our guests. We only move forward with collaborations which closely align with our mission and values. We are a family-owned and run business- Julia and Caroline lead the retreat business and creative studio, and are assisted by Penelope. Julia’s parents Robert and Maruca are active participants and hosts during the retreats. Our retreats are known for the warm and loving family hosting as well as the exceptionally detailed and professional level of hospitality offered by our staff and the chateau itself.

 

Please only apply if you are open and enthusiastic to a close collaboration such as this, and have shared values and drive to help individuals feel seen, creatively nourished and connect to each other. This can be an incredibly heart-warming, enriching and empowering experience for the right instructor. This is not however, a venue for instructor who wishes to work alone.
